Disappointing Draw Puts Esperance Under Pressure Before Simba Clash
Sunday 30-11-2025
Pressure on Tunisian Esperance increased after returning with a draw that felt like a defeat from Luanda, in a match where the team could not deliver a strong blow to boost its chances in the qualification race, while Petro Atletico managed to firmly maintain the top spot in Group Four.

The second round match of the African Confederation Cup group stage ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams. Despite Danho coming on as a substitute, Abou Bakr Diabaté snatched the late equalizer in the 89th minute for Esperance, sparing his team a defeat in the final moments.

This draw places the “Red and Yellow” before a clear equation: winning has become an absolute necessity. After falling in the first round against Stade Malien in Radès, Esperance no longer has any margin for error before facing Tanzanian Simba in Radès on December 23, 2026, in the third round.

In the same context, the second match of the group will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at the 26 March Stadium in Bamako, starting at 17:00 Tunis time, between Stade Malien and Tanzanian Simba, in a confrontation that could directly affect the qualification calculations.

Esperance remains required to quickly recover and capitalize on the upcoming Radès match to correct its continental course before it is too late.
