Tunisian federation resolves debate over hosting the super cup in France

The Tunisian Football Federation has put an end to the circulating news about the possibility of hosting the Final of the Tunisian Cup for the 2025-2026 season in one of the stadiums in France, confirming that the final decision regarding the venue for the match has not yet been made.

The match, which is expected to be held during the last week of January 2027, will bring together Club Africain, the champions of the Tunisian league, and Étoile Sportive du Sahel, the holders of the Tunisian Cup, in a highly anticipated clash between the traditional rivals.

Reports have indicated a move to hold the Final in France, allowing Tunisian fans living there to attend one of the most prominent local clashes. This comes after the Tunisian Football Federation received an offer from a company specialized in organizing sporting events.

In this context, Naji Al-Shahed, a member of the Tunisian Football Federation, clarified that the body has not made a final decision regarding the venue for the match, indicating that organizing it in France has become unlikely given the current situation there, which requires careful consideration before approving any offer.

Shahid confirmed that one company submitted an initial offer to take care of organizing the match at one of the stadiums in France, including the organizational arrangements and accommodation for both teams and their transportation, as well as travel arrangements and ticket promotion. However, the federation did not express approval of the proposal for several reasons.

He added that organizing a match as significant as the Tunisian Cup, bringing together Espérance and Club Africain, requires special arrangements, emphasizing that holding the match in France is not likely at this time, and that the federation is moving towards finalizing its position on the submitted offer.

The next meeting of the Tunisian Football Federation is set to discuss the Super Cup Final, including the venue and final date of the match.
