Guardiola: We Focus Only on the Next Match, and I Will Not Talk to Silva About His Future
Friday 28-11-2025
Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola appeared at a press conference to talk about tomorrow’s match against Leeds United in the 13th round of the English Premier League, to be held at the Etihad Stadium.

The coach said about the match against Leeds and their coach Daniel Farke: "I have a great opinion of Daniel Farke. I have a very good relationship with him. The English Premier League is always this challenging: you can have a good run of results, but in the end, poor results can follow because the competition is always strong. The league is highly demanding, and you have to be ready all the time."

Regarding Arsenal's strength as they sit at the top: "My experience always tells me to focus only on the next match, and then we'll see what happens. I know the gap is real, and Arsenal is a very strong team. We see that they improve match after match and become better as a team."

He elaborated on Bernardo Silva's future: "I want the best for Bernardo. If he decides to stay, I will be very happy. But I am not discussing this matter with him. What matters to me is the well-being of his family. He has spent nine years here, and he will decide for himself what is best."

Regarding the loss against Leverkusen in the Champions League: "We know the competitions are tough. I'm not upset about what happened against Newcastle, but the match against Leverkusen… yes, in football you have to make an effort. And we didn’t try. We played not to make mistakes, to play it safe… and that’s very difficult. I have great confidence in my players, and I appreciate them a lot. Perhaps I value them more highly than they value themselves."

On relying on Haaland to score goals: "It's not a big problem, but overall in the last match we did many good things defensively. Of course, Haaland is very important, but the other players are important too."

Regarding Rudy's readiness: "He is still not ready, Rudy will not be available this week, but he is close to returning."

He clarified his statements regarding his players' lack of attempts against Newcastle: "I said they played to avoid mistakes, not to do anything. And that's difficult. In football, you always have to try, and if you lose after trying, that's part of the game."
