Santos: Al-Jaish Al-Malaki Will Respond on the Field Against Al Ahly and We Have a Clear Offensive Identity
Friday 28-11-2025
Alexander Santos, coach of Al-Jaish Al-Malaki, confirmed that his team is ready to deliver a strong response on the field when they face Egypt's Al Ahly tomorrow, Friday, at 8:00 PM (GMT+1), as part of the second round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Santos explained in the press conference before the match: "Interestingly, the criticisms of my style of play mostly point to the opposite: we create many chances and launch many attacks, but we don't score enough goals. The only match we played with a defensive approach was against Young Africans."

He added: "I don't see that as negative, but the most important thing now is tomorrow's match. We need to deliver a strong team performance. We didn't intentionally play defensively, but the first half of the previous match was very difficult, and in the second half, we tried to improve things and succeeded partially, though we didn't achieve the result we wanted."

The coach of Al-Jaish Al-Malaki continued: "What should we do now? We keep moving forward. We have played 13 matches, 12 of them with an attacking style, high collective quality, and a large number of chances and shots, while conceding very few goals. Tanzania's goal was only the fourth this season, which is a positive indicator of our defensive level."

Santos concluded: "The players believe in their project and train hard. It's natural to go through difficult periods, but what matters is how we respond to them. We are preparing for the final training session before tomorrow's match, which will be the perfect time to deliver our response on the field, as we have done repeatedly this season and even last season. Our focus now is on overcoming this phase as one team."
