Sundowns Club was crowned as the CAF Champions League winners in football after drawing against the Royal Army in the second leg of the final match held on Sunday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The South African team benefited from their 1-0 victory in the first leg, securing the continental title after the second leg ended in a draw between the two teams, amidst a large crowd of Royal Army supporters.

The Royal Army's goal was scored by player Mohamed Rabie Harimat in the 40th minute from a penalty, and Sundowns equalized in the 45+7 minute through Teboho Mokoena. Mohamed Rabie Harimat missed a penalty in the 77th minute.

Mamelodi Sundowns succeeded in adding their second African title in history, having had a strong run in the tournament, compensating for past failures, and regaining balance after losing the South African league title in the final rounds to Orlando Pirates.

The South African team also secured direct qualification to the FIFA Club World Cup after winning the continental title.

On the other hand, a sense of sadness prevailed among the Royal Army fans and the Moroccan sports community after missing the chance to win the continental championship, which the team had been aiming to return to after a 41-year absence since their last title in 1985.
