Arteta: Tomorrow's Match is a Real Test, and This is the Team's Condition
Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta appeared at a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Bayern Munich in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage, to be held at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said about the derby win: "We have to make sure we carry that energy onto the pitch, to every player, and play with the same aggression, dominance, and effectiveness against a big team."
Regarding tomorrow's match: "We have the same intention to win. We have made sure to have excellent preparations. We know the importance of the match. We are in a very strong position and definitely want to maintain it."
He added about Bayern's attacking strength: "These are the kinds of matches we want to face in the competition. We have been very consistent in both tournaments, and so have they. Tomorrow's match will be a great test for us to understand our true standing."
He emphasized: "Every competitor presents different challenges. They are at an excellent moment. The level of consistency they have shown in results and performance is impressive. We know that, but it is also a huge opportunity to show what we are capable of."
About Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, whom he has known since his days at Manchester City: "I always felt that he would excel at anything he chose to do. I am very happy with what he has achieved because he has great presence, passion, and intelligence for football. I knew that anything he touched would make it better. I am not surprised at all."
He added: "We will try to win against Bayern Munich, then we have Chelsea… This shows how tough the schedule is, but at the same time, we are very lucky to be involved in three amazing matches within six days."
Regarding Gabriel Jesus's return: "It is very soon, even sooner than we expected. In the coming days, he will take a new step in a match we will organize for him. After that, he will start knocking on the door again."
Regarding Jiokiris and Havertz: "Both are in very good condition. In the coming days, they will undergo a new examination to fully assess their status and determine whether we can field them in the weekend match or the next game."
He concluded about the readiness of Martinelli and Noni Madueke for tomorrow's match: "Yes, they are among the options. We are about to hold a meeting now regarding Martin Ødegaard, who was very close to participating in the previous match, so we hope he will be included in tomorrow's squad."
