Napoli Sets Its Targets to Strengthen Midfield in January
Thursday 20-11-2025
The website "Football Italia" confirmed that Napoli is looking to sign a new midfielder during the upcoming winter transfer window, with Manchester United player Kobbie Mainoo remaining the Italian club's primary target.

Napoli was close to signing Maino last summer, but Romelu Lukaku's injury forced the club to redirect its budget towards acquiring a new striker. Sources mentioned that Maino is looking to leave Old Trafford in January, even on loan, to secure more playing time in the second half of the season.

If Napoli fails to sign Maino, the club is considering a number of alternatives in midfield, the most prominent of which is Lorenzo Pellegrini from Roma, whose contract expires in June 2026, in addition to Morten Frendrup from Genoa and Arthur Atta from Udinese.

Napoli hopes that through these moves, they can strengthen their midfield position and ensure competitiveness in all tournaments during the second half of the season, while providing multiple options to compensate for any potential difficulties in completing the main transfer.
