Coronation Night: The Continent's Eyes Turn to Morocco for the CAF Awards 2025 Ceremony
Shortly after hosting the African playoff matches qualifying for the decisive World Cup 2026 tournament, the Kingdom of Morocco is once again affirming its strong continental presence by hosting the annual Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards ceremony for 2025 on Wednesday, marking a new milestone that highlights its status as a leading destination for organizing the continent's biggest sporting events.
The CAF's decision to choose Morocco again did not come out of nowhere; rather, it was the result of continuous success in organizing major events, in addition to the country having infrastructure and logistics that serve as a continental model. This has made the Kingdom a trusted partner for African and international sports organizations.
The official nominations for the 2025 awards reveal a prominent Moroccan presence, both individually and collectively, amid an exceptional season marked by the outstanding performance of national football stars, led by Achraf Hakimi, who continues to establish himself as the best right-back in the world. This is alongside historic achievements by the national teams, such as the senior team breaking the world record for the most consecutive wins, and the under-20 team winning the World Cup in Chile.
The 2025 sports year also witnessed victories for other teams and national squads, including the Moroccan local players' team, the under-17 national team that won the African U-17 Championship, as well as Renaissance Berkane's triumph in the CAF Confederation Cup.
