Arteta: Xhaka Made Me a Better Coach, and This is the Date for All Players' Return
Friday 07-11-2025
Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta appeared at a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Sunderland in the 11th round of the Premier League, which will take place at the Stadium of Light.

The coach said in his remarks: "Declan Rice is performing at a very consistent and high level. We see him influencing matches in various ways, and that's exactly what we want from him. His role within the team is growing naturally and continuously."

Regarding the absence of Myles Lewis-Skilly from the England squad: "We are here to support each other and provide players with the right perspective. Considering his age and what he has achieved so far, it’s impressive; we shouldn’t focus on just one moment. Perhaps something is happening now for the right reason, even if it’s not clear at the moment."

Regarding the assessment of Arsenal's level and whether the team is receiving enough recognition, he said: "It's not about getting praise; it's about the work itself. You have to deliver the required performance and then repeat it week after week. Every week is important, and if you want to achieve your goals, you must always be consistent, regardless of the results of other teams."

Regarding the issue of fixture congestion and the possibility of changing the schedules: "I am very optimistic that the date for the Everton vs. Crystal Palace match will be changed. We cannot play a match on Sunday and then another on Tuesday. Everyone is talking about the health of the players and the fans, and if we want to maintain that, this schedule should not happen. We have very positive discussions with the clubs and the Premier League, and we hope to find a way to help as much as possible."

Regarding Chaka, the Sunderland star: "I am very grateful to Granit. I loved every minute we worked together; he helped me become a better coach and assisted the club in its development. I will always be thankful to him."

Regarding Gabriel Jesus's return to training: "Now it's about taking it step by step. His presence with the players in training is important, and I was pleased with the reaction of his teammates to his return."

Regarding the condition of the injured players: "I can't confirm everyone's status, but you're not far from the truth. We hope to be in a strong position with the return of most players after the international break."
