Turab: We Delivered Our Best Performance Since I Joined... The Players Put in a Great Effort
Yas Turab, the coach of Al-Ahly, confirmed that his team delivered their best performance against Ceramica Cleopatra in the semi-finals of the Egyptian Super Cup since he took over the coaching of the club.
Al-Ahly won against Ceramica with a score of 2-1 in the semi-final match of the Egyptian Super Cup, which took place this evening, Thursday, at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
In the press conference following the match, Turab said: "I congratulate Al-Ahly fans on this important victory. We have one goal, which is the final match. We controlled the game and missed four clear chances. We may have faced some pressure in the last five minutes, but we won in the end."
He added, "I agree that we have delivered our best performance since I arrived; big matches require players of the same level."
He continued: "I don't agree that we struggled defensively today; they only had two chances in the match. However, the players performed well. We are working on the physical aspect because I knew there was an issue in that area."
He concluded: "As I mentioned before, goals and victories provide a great deal of confidence. Today we scored two goals; if there hadn't been any chances, we wouldn't have scored. The players are putting in a lot of effort, and we are working on how to develop the players in this aspect. I saw players sacrificing for the win, and they did everything to achieve victory."
With the victory achieved by Al Ahly, the team qualifies for the Egyptian Super Cup final to face the winner of the match between Zamalek and Pyramids.
