Marquinhos: Injuries and Lack of Readiness Affected Our Performance
Wednesday 05-11-2025
Marquinhos, the captain and defender of Paris Saint-Germain, defended his teammates following the 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage at the Parc des Princes. He explained that injuries and varying levels of readiness affected the team's performance.

Marquinhos stated in his comments after the match: "It is always difficult to lose on our home ground, and it is a frustrating feeling. We need to prove ourselves and perform better at home. We faced an organized team with excellent fitness, and they were better than us in the first half in terms of physical strength and ball recovery. We couldn't impose our style of play as we should; many Paris players are not at their full readiness, and I am one of them."

He added regarding the lessons learned from the match: "There are positive things to take from this game; the team still has the ambition to win against its rivals, but they were better than us, even with the red card that gave a different context in the second half, where we slightly excelled. Perhaps the situation would have been different if we had played the entire match eleven against eleven."

Regarding the condition of injured players like Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos stated: "We saw some injured players after the match; we have to wait for the scans, and the doctors will provide better information later."

The team captain concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of commitment and teamwork: "Despite the difficulties, the team continues to work hard. We focus on improving our performance in the upcoming matches and preparing for each encounter in the right way to get back on the right track in the Champions League."
