Shobeir Comments on Ahmed Abdel-Raouf Taking Over Zamalek Training
Media figure Ahmed Shobeir commented on Ahmed Abdel-Raouf taking over the training of Zamalek temporarily following the departure of Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira.
Shobeir said during his radio program 'With Shobeir': 'The announcement of Zamalek's dismissal of Ferreira was not a surprise to me, but the appointment of Ahmed Abdel-Raouf as interim coach was frankly surprising.'
He added: 'I think the position is a bit too big for Ahmed Abdel-Raouf even if it's temporary, until the board of directors stabilizes on a new coach, whether Egyptian or foreign.'
Shobeir continued: 'One of the leaders and personalities who love Zamalek told me: The club has no money and the officials are trying as much as possible. I would have preferred to keep Ferreira until the end of the Super Cup, as long as the management has not settled on a replacement yet.'
He concluded: 'Ahmed Abdel-Raouf had two unsuccessful experiences in the Premier League this season, although the circumstances and capabilities are completely different, but I believe that having an experienced coach with him would have been something that would please him.'
