Foden: Haaland is a World-Class Player, and It Was a Tough Match
Manchester City star Phil Foden appeared in press statements after the 2-0 victory over Everton in the eighth round of the Premier League.
The player said: "It was a tough match. In the first half, we didn't show our best form, we didn't play the ball forward quickly enough, and we were slow in our passing and couldn't find spaces between the lines. The coach talked to us during halftime, and in the second half, we were more effective in passing forward, breaking lines, and creating numerous chances. Overall, we can be satisfied with our performance."
Regarding Haaland's importance: "He is an important player, we know Haaland's quality and his ability to time his movements perfectly and position himself in the ideal spot. Even if he is closely marked, he remains capable of scoring; he only needs one opportunity. He remained patient despite the lack of spaces, and as you saw, he was present at the right moment — this is a characteristic of world-class strikers."
As for his personal performance, he concluded: "I feel that my relationship with Haaland is gradually improving. I passed him some good balls today that he could have scored from, but unfortunately, every time I pass to him, it seems he misses! We are building this understanding, and I always try to find him with balls behind the defense and in the areas where he likes to score. This is something we constantly work on in training."
