Guardiola: Haaland Frustrated Me, We Need to Improve
Saturday 18-10-2025
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spoke to the press after the 2-0 victory over Everton in the eighth round of the Premier League.

The coach said: "A typical match after the international break. We were not present in the first 15 or 20 minutes; we lacked energy, but after the first goal, we played better. We had clear chances and we will accept the result. The positive thing is that the players coming off the bench added a lot of energy, but it would be better if we improved while winning."

He added about the opponent's performance: "Everton is a good team, we knew that. They rely on long balls, and our style in the first half was not ideal. Scoring the goal helped us a lot to improve our performance for the rest of the match."

Regarding Erling Haaland, Guardiola said: "I am frustrated that he didn't score four or five goals! But we must understand that we cannot rely on him alone. He is always there, but we need the wingers and attacking midfielders to score goals too, otherwise we won't achieve what we want. Haaland is extremely important, but the rest must also take responsibility, and they have the talent for that."

As for young Nico O'Reilly, the coach concluded: "He is a young player who is getting a lot of minutes, and I am very happy for him. Step by step he is developing. He helps us a lot with set pieces, and he moves well in both small and large spaces. He provided a great assist for our goal and had a standout performance overall."
