Officially: Barcelona Announces De Jong's Contract Renewal
The Spanish club Barcelona has officially announced through its website the renewal of the contract of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong until June 2029.
The signing ceremony took place at the offices of Spotify Camp Nou, in the presence of club president Joan Laporta and several club officials, where De Jong arrived with his wife and family to participate in the event.
The new contract for the Dutch star includes a release clause of 500 million euros, after it was 400 million in the previous contract, confirming that the player expressed a strong desire to continue with the team after seven seasons wearing the Barcelona jersey.
Some media reports indicated that negotiations between the two parties were delayed due to previous disagreements between De Jong and his former agent Ali Dursun, before Dutch lawyer Sebastian Ledur took over the negotiations until the signing of the new contract.
Frenkie de Jong is one of the most foreign players to participate in the history of Barcelona, having played 266 matches with the team, and he ranks eighth on the list of foreign players with the most appearances for the club.
