The Spanish Football Federation announced the exclusion of Real Madrid defender Dean Housen from the Spain national team roster before the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup against Georgia in Elche and Bulgaria in Valladolid, after he suffered a muscle injury.

According to what was published by the Spanish newspaper "Marca", Housen arrived at the national team's camp in the football city of Las Rozas on Monday evening suffering from muscle fatigue, before undergoing medical examinations on Wednesday morning that confirmed his injury, leading to his official exclusion from the roster in coordination with his club Real Madrid, until he begins his treatment program during the international break.

The newspaper added that defender Aymeric Laporte was called up to replace Housen, returning to the Spanish national team after a hiatus since November of last year, when he participated against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.

In an official statement, the Spanish Federation clarified that the player arrived at the camp suffering from symptoms of muscle fatigue, and examinations were conducted that confirmed the injury, and Real Madrid was notified of the results, with wishes for his speedy recovery.
