The Moroccan international Naif Akord, defender of Olympique Marseille, confirmed that his role as a football player remains constant despite the difficult circumstances Morocco is currently facing, noting that sports remain an outlet and a source of happiness for the Moroccan people.

Akord said in press statements: "I am a son of Morocco and I fully understand what is happening, but there are those who have the ability and responsibility to deal with these circumstances, as for me, my role is to continue representing my country on the field."

He added: "Football today brings joy to Moroccans, and that is why we will do our utmost in the upcoming two matches, whether the friendly against Bahrain or in the World Cup qualifiers against Congo."

The Marseille defender concluded his remarks by saying: "We do not know what will happen next, as some matters are beyond our capabilities as players, but we have expressed our feelings towards the homeland and we perform our duty with all sincerity."
