Arteta: The West Ham Match is Crucial and an Opportunity to Correct the Course
Friday 03-10-2025
Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, spoke about the anticipated match against West Ham United in the seventh round of the Premier League, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta said in the press conference: "It is a crucial match; we learned a lesson in the past two seasons after losing to them twice here. We need to correct our course, and tomorrow is a great opportunity to achieve that."

He added: "I want to win in my 300th match with Arsenal. It is true that the win rate is the highest, but even so, we have not achieved the best possible rate. It is much tougher at this level, and that is what we are focusing on."

He continued: "I feel a great privilege; I enjoy what I do with my colleagues. Football means winning matches, and that is how you keep your job."

He went on: "If you look at the team's formation, you will find it was wonderful, but we must thank everyone who contributed to this work; some have been here for six months and others for six years. Everyone has been important and special."

Regarding the team's star, he said: "Bukayo Saka's 200th match represents a significant step in his career. The personality he has become and the role he plays in the team makes me very happy to see him every day."

He added: "Looking at the number of points we have earned and the win rate, we find that other coaches have won titles. Sometimes you have to congratulate those who were better than you, even if you were excellent, because there are those who were exceptional."

He concluded: "This shows how difficult the competition is. We know West Ham's new coach well and understand how he prepares his team, so we know it will be a tough match."
