Haaland: We Did Not Deserve to Win, Every Match in the Champions League is Difficult
The star of Manchester City, Erling Haaland, appeared in press statements after the 2-2 draw against Monaco in the second round of the Champions League group stage.
The player said: "I don't feel good - we didn't win. We made an unnecessary mistake in the second half. We didn't play well enough, and we didn't deserve to win."
He added: "We need more energy. We needed to press them more, as we did in the first half; they took the lead in the second half, and I don't think that was enough."
Regarding the penalty incident for Monaco: "I didn't see it - but if you kick a player in the face, it’s likely to be a penalty."
On touching the ball only 7 times in the first half: "I still believe I played well, making movements and giving others space. It’s not just about touching the ball to participate in the game, but about running. I did my job in the first half, but I didn't do that in the second half. I didn't score goals or finish the attack."
He concluded: "Every match in the Champions League is difficult. Look at last year, we were eliminated. Every match is tough, and few teams have won their first two matches, and that's why."
