PSV Eindhoven Interested in Signing Hakim Ziyech to Replace Van Bommel's Injury

The Dutch club PSV Eindhoven has expressed interest in the services of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech to compensate for the long absence of their promising striker Ruben van Bommel, who suffered a serious knee injury that is likely to keep him out until the end of the current season.

The Eindhovens Dagblad newspaper confirmed that Ziyech's name, currently available as a free agent after his experience with Qatari club Al-Duhail, has been proposed to the PSV management as an option to strengthen the attack.

Ziyech (32 years old) is no stranger to the atmosphere of the Dutch league, having previously shone in the Ajax Amsterdam jersey under the current PSV coach Peter Bosz, during a period described as one of the most successful phases of his career, giving him an advantage for quick integration if the deal goes through.

Van Bommel's injury, the son of the club legend Mark van Bommel, came after his big transfer from Alkmaar in a deal worth 15.8 million euros, where he left the match against Ajax after only 40 minutes due to knee pain. Although there has been no official announcement from the club, indications suggest that his season has ended prematurely.

According to the regulations of the Dutch federation, clubs are allowed to sign free agents outside of transfer windows, which opens the door for a potential return of Hakim Ziyech to the league that witnessed his great breakthrough. It is worth noting that Spanish club Elche had previously attempted to sign him without success, continuing his absence from the pitch while awaiting a new opportunity to regain his brilliance.
