PSV Eindhoven extends contract of young talent Kournichon
PSV Eindhoven has extended the contract of young midfielder Shuriano Cornelissen until the summer of 2031, ensuring the 18-year-old player remains with the club for an additional five seasons.
The contract renewal came just days after Cornichon's official first appearance with the first team, when he came on as a substitute against SC Heerenveen in the Dutch league. The 2026-2027 season has seen significant milestones in the player's career, as he joined first team training during the preparation period and also played minutes in a friendly match at the Philips Stadion.
Peter Bosz praised the potential of young midfielder Shuriano, saying: "Shuriano will be a very good player, believe me. This player has special abilities, and he still has a lot to learn, but I am happy that he made his debut."
For his part, Cornet confirmed that the extension of his contract represents a positive signal from the club, saying: "Extending my contract is a great step and a sign that the club is very happy with the progress I am making. I am working hard, and that has been greatly appreciated in recent weeks. I want to continue to develop and become a key player in the first team of PSV Eindhoven in the future, and I secretly hope this won't be the last contract I sign with the club."
Kornéson joined the PSV Eindhoven academy in 2016 and continued to develop until he became a regular player for Jong PSV, where he has played 14 matches since his debut earlier this year. The international player for the Netherlands youth teams signed his first professional contract in 2025, running until 2028, before the club has now extended it by three additional years.
Technical director Jan van Heeckeren expressed the club's happiness with the renewal, highlighting the player's great talent and noticeable progress. He stated that the last few weeks have been exceptional for him, following his first appearance with the first team and the signing of the new contract.
