The official website of the Premier League announced that Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch of Liverpool won the Player of the Match award for the fifth round after his remarkable performance in the Merseyside Derby against Everton.
Gravenberch led Liverpool to a 2-1 victory, opening the scoring with a brilliant touch following a cross from Mohamed Salah, before assisting his teammate Hugo Ekitike with a fine pass. Thus, he became the youngest player to score and assist in the history of the Merseyside Derby in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old player received 31% of the public vote, surpassing his closest competitor, Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, who garnered 20% of the votes.
The list of nominees also included Anton Stach with 16%, Jeremy Doku and Nordi Mukiele with 11% each, Alex Iwobi with 6%, Martin Dubravka with 4%, and Tyrick Mitchell with 1%.
