Gabriel Martinelli's Post-Match Comments
The Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli appeared in a press statement after the draw against Manchester City 1-1 in the fifth round of the Premier League.
He said: "Of course, we wanted to win. I think we created many chances during the match, but we lacked luck at some moments. I am happy with the goal I scored, but we did not want to draw; we wanted to win, so we have to keep working to achieve that in the upcoming matches."
Regarding his goal: "I saw Eze (Eberechi Eze) taking control of the ball, and I tried to communicate with him by looking, and as soon as the ball was open, I moved quickly, and it was a great pass from him. All I did was try to put the ball in the net."
On coming off the bench: "I always work for moments like this. The decision to participate is left to the coach; he knows what he is doing. I just try to give my best to help this club. Of course, I don’t want to sit on the bench; I want to play 90 minutes in every match, but Arteta knows what he is doing; he is the manager, and everyone trusts him. We are very happy to have him with us."
He concluded: "We play for Arsenal, and we understand the size of this great club. We always try to win matches; we did not want to come away with a draw, but in the end, that’s what happened."
