Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appeared in press statements after the 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the fourth round of the Premier League.

The coach said: "We are in a position we did not expect at the start of the season, and of course our competitors are very strong. We want to stay close and continue fighting for titles. The fighting spirit was wonderful, and our players have a lot of pride and want to give their best on a special day. We saw our fans very happy, and that is our work; we are very lucky."

He added: "There are many things we need to improve. We are not a complete team yet, but step by step we will develop. This victory helps us a lot. In some matches, we have a lot of momentum, while in others we lack it."

He continued: "Manchester United has great players, and I know we struggle against them here, while we get better results at Old Trafford."

Regarding Phil Foden, Guardiola said: "He played amazingly. He is a player who loves to reach the penalty area. In our last league title, he was the best player in the Premier League; we need him a lot."

He concluded his remarks by saying: "The players have a lot of pride. Haaland's commitment this season is amazing; he has scored seven goals in just two matches, which is fantastic."
