Kievo: I Saw Positive Aspects, and We Must Get Rid of the Team's Past
Saturday 13-09-2025
Christian Kievo, the head coach of Inter Milan, expressed relative satisfaction with his team's performance despite the thrilling loss of 4-3 against Juventus in the third round of the Italian league.

Despite Inter leading 3-2 in the second half after two goals from Hakan Çalhanoğlu and a header from Marcus Thuram, Juventus came back and scored two goals in the final minutes through Khephren Thuram and Vasilyi Adzic.

Regarding the team's performance, Kievo said: "I think we performed well in both halves; unfortunately, we lost focus in the last ten minutes. We came here to win, we played with character, and we were not satisfied with a draw, but we weren't sharp enough in the crucial moments."

On the team's management of the match, he added: "We need to handle moments of the game better; Juventus did not hesitate to clear the ball when under pressure. After all this effort to come back, we should have managed the game differently; this comes down to experience, and we need to learn."

Regarding the positive points, he continued: "Despite everything, I want to focus on the positives; the team performed well, but we leave with disappointment because we did not earn any points."

On Çalhanoğlu's performance, he noted: "Hakan delivered what we expect from him; this is his quality, and this is what he brings to the team. His performance reflects the character of the entire team."

On the psychological impact after losing the Champions League final, he said: "I saw good things today, and also in the second half against Udinese, even though we did not achieve results. We need to get rid of some issues related to the past so that we can play with calmness and focus. I cannot complain about the players' commitment, that is for sure."
