Media figure Ahmed Shobair, a former Al Ahly star, revealed Hossam Hassan's desire, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, to play friendly matches against African teams before the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Shobair stated on his radio program: "Hossam Hassan prefers to face African teams in friendly matches before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which will take place from December 21 to January 18, 2026, in Morocco."
He continued: "The coaching staff of the national team, led by Hossam Hassan, has a clear approach in selecting the type of upcoming friendly matches, as they prefer to face strong African teams like Cameroon and Nigeria."
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian national team drew with Burkina Faso 0-0 in the eighth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
