Union Officially Secures Malian Doumbia Deal
The Union Club has officially completed the contract procedures for Malian midfielder Mohamed Doumbia, coming from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, in a long-term deal that extends until 2030, as announced by the club's official account via the 'X' platform.
Earlier reports indicated that the Union management had reached an agreement with the Belgian club regarding the transfer of the 21-year-old player, who will strengthen the 'Tigers' with a five-year contract that can be extended.
Sources revealed that the club's management decided to register Doumbia under the category of born players instead of the Spaniard Hernandez, who is expected to move to the youth team on loan until the end of the current season.
The Malian player previously played alongside his teammate Marwan Al-Sahafi, the Union winger loaned to Royal Antwerp, as they both participated in two matches this season against Mechelen and Westerlo, showing impressive performances despite varying results.
Doumbia's football career began at the famous JMG Academy in Mali in 2019, later attracting the interest of the Danish club Nordsjælland, which loaned his services in 2022 before he proved himself as a strong physical and technical midfielder.
In 2023, Doumbia moved to Royal Antwerp for 700,000 euros, where he excelled with the reserve team and then the first team, participating in 54 matches, scoring eight goals, and providing three assists, raising his market value to 9 million euros by 2025.
