Reports have revealed that Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana wishes to renew his contract with Manchester United, despite speculations about his possible departure after a decline in performance over the past two seasons.

The Athletic reported that Onana returned to the team's training ground ahead of the current season, expressing his desire to stay with the club and sign a new contract.

This comes amid previous reports suggesting that United's management intends to offload Onana and sign a replacement goalkeeper, especially after the disappointing performances he delivered over two seasons.

The report indicated that coach Ruben Amorim has not shown much confidence in Onana, as he relied entirely on goalkeeper Altay Bayındır in the first three matches of the Premier League this season.

Doubts about Onana's future increased after the club signed goalkeeper Sini Lammens from Belgian side Royal Antwerp on the last day of the summer transfer window.

André Onana, who is 29 years old, joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023 from Inter Milan for €50 million, signing a contract that extends until 2028 with an option for an additional season.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper has played 101 matches with the Red Devils across various competitions, during which he conceded 148 goals.
