De Jong said: "We lost a lot of balls, and the match was very important. Rayo Vallecano played well, while we failed to impose our control. All teams now know our style, so we need to adapt and improve from match to match and from season to season."

Regarding the absence of video technology, he stated: "The referee was warning us throughout the match. We were told that the video technology was not activated, then it was used only for offside calls, and then it returned again. This ambiguity is impactful, especially when we play with a high defensive line."

On the condition of the pitch, he said: "The pitch was not the best in La Liga, but at the same time, the ball did not bounce too much, so we cannot comment on that too much."
