Enrique: There Are No Easy Matches and We Must Continue Winning
The head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, held a press conference today, Friday, to discuss his team's upcoming match against Toulouse in the third round of Ligue 1, as well as his comments on the UEFA Champions League draw and the performance of some young players in the team.
Regarding the UEFA Champions League, Enrique said: "It is the tournament that everyone wants to win, it is a great motivation for us to start the competition while holding the title. This format provides strong matches, and we will play several of them, perhaps more than the other teams. There will be no easy matches for us; all of them will be at a very high level."
He added: "We are used to playing against teams that defend well against us. We have our own style, which often makes opponents retreat to defend against us. We hope to achieve victory; this is clearly our goal."
He continued: "I don't know if Toulouse will play this way tomorrow, but last season we often faced teams that relied on intense defending. I don’t think the Champions League title has changed that; we were already facing this situation, and we are accustomed to it and ready to deal with it."
Regarding the nature of the match, Enrique said: "I expect a difficult match as always when we are playing away. We expect them to defend deeply and leave us with little space. Toulouse is having a good period after winning the first two matches of the season, and we need to win to continue on the path we aspire to."
On the role of young players, he stated: "We always try to give opportunities to young players. We have a model based on trust in our academy graduates, and we are working to develop it, but we conduct a thorough analysis of the team's needs, without overlooking the capabilities of young players who can contribute."
The Spanish coach concluded his remarks by praising the young star: "It is great to have a player like Warren. He is amazing and behaves perfectly. He just needs to continue working hard as he is doing now. Every player goes through periods of ups and downs, but if he keeps it up, he will always be a great player."
