Madjo: From Registration Crisis to Star Performance Against PSG

Young English forward Brian Madja scored the equalizer for Aston Villa against Paris Saint-Germain just moments before halftime in the UEFA Super Cup, after delivering an impressive performance and threatening the European champions' goal on multiple occasions.

Aston Villa signed Madjo from Metz last January for £10 million, on the day he turned 17.

The player has entered Metz's history as the youngest player to participate with the first team, breaking a record that stood for 51 years.

Madjo's participation with Aston Villa this season was not guaranteed due to Article 19 of FIFA regulations, which restrict international transfers for players under 18 years old. Despite being born in England to Cameroonian parents, FIFA initially prevented his registration. However, the club triumphed in its appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in early August, allowing the player to participate officially instead of waiting until January 2027.

Now, Madjo found himself scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, in a match he wasn't even sure he could play until the beginning of August. His goal against the Champions League winners adds a new chapter to the story of the 17-year-old player, just days after his legal troubles came to an end.
