Vitinha: UEFA Super Cup is a rare match, we aim for more titles

Portuguese midfielder Vitinha of Paris Saint-Germain has emphasized the importance of the upcoming match against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup final, stressing his team's desire to continue winning titles despite the short preparation period for the new season.

Vitinha stated: "I am as good as I was last year. We were thirsty for titles and wanted to win more, and this year is no different. It will be tough, but we want to do our best to win more."

He added: "We know, of course, that the preparation period is a bit short, and you can't combine rest with preparation. I believe that I and the team will be ready for tomorrow's match, and we will do everything we can to win on Wednesday."

Speaking about his teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Vitinha said: "I think he was very good, it has been a long time since his last match, so he might have a greater desire after missing the World Cup."

He spoke about the upcoming match against Aston Villa, saying: "The coach is the best person to talk about Digne. I spoke with him, but not about Aston Villa. We all know Aston Villa, and even with the start of the new season, it’s always tough to play against them."

The player added about the previous encounter against the English team in the Champions League: "I remember that match, and it was tough, especially in the second half. We understand how difficult Wednesday's match will be, but we know that the Super Cup is a rare match in a player's career."

Vitinha stated: "We all understand the ups and downs we may experience throughout the season. Thinking about the distant future is not good, and we need to rearrange our thoughts and forget what we have achieved, as this helps us stay at our best."

Regarding the Ballon d'Or race, he said: "There are many outstanding players who can win the Ballon d'Or this year. In my opinion, the winner is usually a player from Paris Saint-Germain, like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after his fantastic season in the Champions League, or Ousmane Dembélé after his remarkable season, or Fabián who has won all the titles."

He concluded: "For me, it will be one of these three, but there are many outstanding players like Kane or Mbappé. I will vote for a player from Paris Saint-Germain to win the Ballon d'Or."
