Barcelona Seeks to Exempt Raphinha from Bolivia Match
Wednesday 27-08-2025
Barcelona is seeking to reach an agreement with the Brazilian Football Confederation to exempt its player Raphinha from playing the second match for the Brazilian national team during the international break in September, which will take place against Bolivia at an altitude of 4,150 meters in the city of El Alto.

Raphinha was called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the matches against Chile and Bolivia, even though both matches are considered of little significance after Brazil officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup, and Chile was eliminated from the competition.

Barcelona hopes that Raphinha will only play the first match against Chile on Thursday, September 4, at Maracanã, and then return directly to Catalonia without traveling to Bolivia, to avoid the significant physical fatigue that comes from playing at high altitudes.

This decision has caused dissatisfaction in Barcelona, especially after Ancelotti granted rest to Real Madrid's trio Edir Militão, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo, while Raphinha was called up to play in two matches that do not carry any real competitive nature.

It is worth noting that Ancelotti's squad saw the inclusion of new names like Douglas Santos and Caio Jorge as part of his desire to test new players, especially since this will be his first and last test before he begins serious preparations for the 2026 World Cup during the next break, which will include an Asian tour against South Korea and Japan.
