Milan Withdraws from Boniface Deal Due to Medical Concerns
Reports from Germany have indicated that AC Milan has officially decided to withdraw from the deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, after a series of medical examinations raised doubts among the Italian club's management regarding the Nigerian player's physical condition.
Boniface had been in Italy over the weekend for medical tests but returned to Germany on Sunday, at a time when Milan's decision was not final until the last hours.
The sporting director of Milan stated in press remarks on Saturday: "We knew he had issues in the past; we are evaluating everything as planned regarding the player's health and physical condition."
He added: "His quality is unquestionable, but we are just trying to make the right decision for this situation."
Despite the club reaching a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for a loan deal worth 5 million euros with an option to buy for 24 million euros, reports revealed that the deal has officially collapsed.
The director of Bayer Leverkusen confirmed this, saying: "If he returns to Leverkusen, then the Milan deal is over; this is not a big secret."
Reports indicate that the main reason behind Milan's withdrawal is Boniface's long injury record, which includes two tears in the cruciate ligament in the same knee during his time with Bodo/Glimt.
Additionally, he has suffered from recurring muscle injuries in the last two seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, and the player underwent four separate medical examinations while in Italy.
