Bayer Leverkusen Approaches Contract with Moroccan Elyas Ben Sghir
Bayer Leverkusen, the German club, continues its strong moves in the summer transfer market, as it has come very close to signing Moroccan international Elyas Ben Sghir, a striker from AS Monaco, just days before the transfer window closes.
According to what was revealed by the French newspaper L'Équipe, Leverkusen has reached a personal agreement with Ben Sghir after intensive negotiations that took place in the last few hours, awaiting a final agreement with the management of Monaco.
Leverkusen's interest in the Moroccan player comes as part of its efforts to compensate for the attacking void left by compatriot Amin Adli after his transfer to Bournemouth in England.
Monaco had rejected an initial offer from the German club valued at 25 million euros plus 5 million euros in variables, but negotiations are still ongoing in a positive atmosphere suggesting a resolution is near.
Leverkusen is looking to strengthen its squad after a series of departures of key players such as Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and also Amin Adli.
It is worth noting that Ben Sghir, who is 22 years old, is under contract with Monaco until the summer of 2027 and has played 11 international matches with the Moroccan national team, scoring 3 goals.
