Ferreira: We feel frustrated by the match result... and the pitch was poor
Yannick Ferreira, the coach of Zamalek, expressed his dissatisfaction with the result of the match against Arab Contractors.
Zamalek drew 0-0 with Arab Contractors in a match held on Saturday evening during the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Ferreira said in the press conference after the match: "We feel frustrated by the result and the effort was present. We tried a lot and I do not blame the players, but to win in such matches, we needed to exert more effort in the final third of the pitch and we faced difficulties in creating opportunities."
He added: "When playing against teams that defend tightly, we need the ability to prove our quality, but doing so on a pitch like this is difficult. To unsettle the defenses, we need touches and to move the ball quickly, and that was not possible on that pitch, which is one of the reasons for not showing well in the final third."
He continued: "Nasser Maher has good quality in the number 10 position and we have confidence in his performance in that position."
He went on: "Our goal is to improve in every match, and we will not talk too much about the pitch. We haven't discussed it much because it's a reality and a matter on the ground."
He emphasized: "We tried to win and feel sorry for the loss. We had the motivation to win until the last minute, we couldn't score the goal that would earn us the match points, but the motivation was there."
