Officially: Newcastle announces the signing of Ramsdale on loan
Saturday 20-12-2025
Newcastle United announced on its official website the signing of English goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton, marking the seventh stop in his career over the last 8 years.

Sky Sports reported that the deal is on loan for one season, with an option to buy in the summer of 2026. Newcastle's signing of Ramsdale comes after failing to negotiate for James Trafford, who returned to Manchester City from Burnley for £27 million.

Ramsdale, 27 years old, left Southampton after their relegation to the English Championship, to join Newcastle under the management of Eddie Howe.

Throughout his professional career, Ramsdale has played for seven different clubs: Sheffield United, Chesterfield, Wimbledon, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Southampton, and finally Newcastle, and he has also made 5 international appearances for the England national team.
