Officially: Sporting Lisbon Signs Colombian Luis Suarez
The Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon announced its contract with Colombian striker Luis Suarez, coming from Spanish Almeria, during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Suarez signed a contract that extends until 2030, in a deal made to compensate for the departure of Swedish top scorer Viktor Gyökeres to English club Arsenal.
In his first comment after joining the Portuguese club, Suarez said: "I came with a desire to conquer the world, and I believe that with your support we can achieve all our goals... It's time to work."
It is worth noting that Suarez, who is 27 years old, was the top scorer in the Spanish second division last season, having scored 27 goals in 41 matches.
