Atletico Madrid Establishes a Long-Term Project
The Spanish newspaper 'AS' announced that Atletico Madrid has laid out a long-term plan to rebuild the team, focusing on signing young players with contracts extending until 2030, which the newspaper has dubbed the '2030 Agenda.'
According to the report, Atletico Madrid has completed 6 new signings this summer, all with contracts that end in 2030, namely Rogeri, Alex Baena, Cardoso, Almada, Boubil, and Hanco. The club aims to build a stable project in the medium term without resorting to short-term solutions.
The report noted that these long contracts help the club facilitate financial aspects related to depreciation, especially since all players were purchased outright, with no free transfers or loans involved.
'AS' also clarified that Julian Alvarez was the first to sign until 2030 in a major deal worth 75 million euros, and the club renewed the contract of player Barrios until the same year following his impressive performance. They are currently working on extending the contract of Giuliano Simeone until 2030 as well.
The report confirms that the club is systematically working to build a new young team to compete during the period from 2025 to 2030, as part of a comprehensive project led by the sports team under Carlos Busero.
