Totti's Son Announces Retirement from Football at Age 19
Monday 28-07-2025
Christian Totti, the son of Roma legend and Italian national team star Francesco Totti, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 19, after a short career that faced immense pressure due to his association with his father.

Christian confirmed in his statements that his decision came as a result of the constant comparisons and high media expectations that exceeded his capabilities, saying: "Yes, I will retire, I have made my decision."

Christian began his career with the youth team at Roma and had brief stints with the youth teams of Frosinone, Spain's Rayo Vallecano, and Olbia in the Italian fourth division, but he was unable to secure a starting position in any of them.

His former coach Marco Amelia pointed out the level of pressure he faced, stating: "Being Totti's son greatly affected his evaluation; the expectations were always greater than reality."

After his retirement, Christian decided to remain within the football system by signing with the Totti Football Academy, which was established by his father and is overseen by his uncle Riccardo, where he will work alongside General Director Claudio Dolis in discovering and nurturing young talents.
