Newcastle Moves to Sign Ramsdale
Newcastle United is seeking to sign Aaron Ramsdale, the Southampton goalkeeper, during the current summer transfer window, according to 'The Athletic' website.
The report clarified that Newcastle has made an initial offer to acquire Ramsdale on loan with an option to buy, while Southampton prefers to sell the goalkeeper outright or receive a significant sum if he is loaned out.
This move by Newcastle comes after they are close to losing the deal for James Trafford, the Burnley goalkeeper, who is nearing a transfer to Manchester City.
It is worth noting that Ramsdale, 27 years old, joined Southampton in the summer of 2024 from Arsenal for £25 million, and he is contracted until 2029. He has previously played under coach Eddie Howe at Bournemouth from 2017 to 2020.
The English international goalkeeper participated in 32 matches with Southampton last season, keeping a clean sheet on three occasions.
