The Polish Football Association announced the appointment of veteran coach Jan Urban as the new head coach of the national team, succeeding the former coach Michal Probierz, who recently resigned amid an internal crisis with team captain Robert Lewandowski.

Probierz's resignation came after a disagreement with Lewandowski over the decision to grant the captaincy to midfielder Piotr Zielinski during the international break last June, prompting the Polish star to announce that he would not join the national team camps as long as Probierz remained in his position.

Following the coach's resignation, the Polish Football Association announced the appointment of Jan Urban, who will be officially presented at a press conference in the capital, Warsaw.

The Polish network "O Net" revealed that Lewandowski expressed his willingness to return to the national team under Urban's leadership, although he has not yet finalized his decision.

The Polish national team suffered a defeat against Finland with a score of 2-1 in their last match during the current international break.

Jan Urban is 63 years old and has extensive coaching experience, having previously managed prominent clubs in Poland such as Legia Warsaw and Górnik, as well as having an experience in the Spanish league with Osasuna.
