The Sweden national team secured its spot in the 2026 World Cup following its thrilling 3-2 victory over the Poland national team in the final of the qualifying playoff.

Anthony Elanga opened the scoring for Sweden in the 20th minute, before Nicola Zalewski equalized for Poland in the 33rd minute. The Swedish team regained the lead through Gustav Lagerbielke in the 44th minute.

In the second half, Karol Swiderski scored the equalizer for Poland in the 55th minute, before Viktor Gyökeres sealed the match for Sweden with a third goal in the 88th minute.

With this victory, the Sweden national team qualified for the 2026 World Cup, joining Group F, which includes the Netherlands, Japan, and Tunisia.

The Sweden national team reached the playoff final after defeating Ukraine 3-1, while the Poland national team qualified after its 2-1 victory over Albania, before losing in the decisive match.
