Monday 14-07-2025
The Ministry of Social Rights has requested the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes to investigate the birthday party of football player Lamine Yamal, to verify the potential violation of the disability law that prohibits mocking individuals with disabilities, according to Cadena SER radio.

The Director General for Disability Affairs, Jesus Martin, clarified that the ministry is monitoring whether individuals with dwarfism were insulted at the party, emphasizing that the law has prohibited such practices for nearly three years, and the government is seeking to tighten penalties against them.

For its part, the Association of Individuals with Achondroplasia announced legal actions against Yamal for employing individuals with disabilities at the event, considering this a violation of laws and ethical values related to the dignity of people with disabilities.

The law prohibits the use of individuals with disabilities in performances intended for mockery or ridicule, in order to protect their dignity.
