Sporting Lisbon President Raises the Challenge Flag Against Gyokeres
Frederico Varandas, the president of Sporting Lisbon, commented on the absence of Swedish star Viktor Gyokeres from the summer training period, in order to pressure the club to facilitate his departure.
Varandas said: "If they do not want to pay the fair market value for Viktor, we are very comfortable with him continuing with us for the next three years."
He added: "The player’s departure has become more complicated now, and no one is above the interests of Sporting, no matter what."
Varandas concluded his statements confidently, saying: "We are calm. Everything will be resolved when the market closes, through a financial penalty and an apology to the group."
The Portuguese club is asking for around 70 million euros plus incentives and bonuses to part with Gyokeres, noting that Arsenal and Manchester United are among the prominent clubs interested in signing him.
