Tebas Explains Reason for Rejecting Real Madrid's Request
Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, clarified the reason for rejecting Real Madrid's request to postpone their opening match in the Spanish league against Osasuna, scheduled for August 19.
Real Madrid's request to postpone their opening match was made to allow for more rest after participating in the Club World Cup and reaching the semifinals.
Tebas stated: "The postponement decision does not align with the league; there is nothing that can be changed. Paris Saint-Germain did not request to change the timing of their matches in Ligue 1, nor did Chelsea request that in the Premier League."
He concluded: "Real Madrid wanted 21 days to prepare, and they will have 20 days; I don't think they will lose the match against Osasuna because of one day."
