Portuguese media reports revealed today, Thursday, that Arsenal has rejected the financial demands set by Sporting Lisbon to part ways with their Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, which threatens to derail the transfer during the current summer transfer window.

The Portuguese newspaper "A Bola" mentioned that the relationship between the two clubs is experiencing noticeable tension due to Sporting Lisbon's insistence on receiving 70 million euros plus financial incentives, while Arsenal is seeking to reduce the deal's value.

The newspaper pointed out that Gyökeres, who is 27 years old, has begun to take an escalatory stance against his club's management, hinting at not joining the preparation period for the new season if negotiations between the two parties continue to stall.

It is worth noting that the Swedish striker excelled remarkably in the 2024/2025 season, where he played 52 matches, scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists in various competitions.
