Brighton & Hove Albion announced on its official website the signing of Belgian international defender Maxim De Kuiper from Club Brugge, with a contract extending for five years until June 2030, after completing all necessary regulatory procedures.

De Kuiper is 24 years old and excels in the left-back position, possessing remarkable offensive and creative abilities along with significant experience despite his young age, having played several seasons in the UEFA Champions League and the Belgian league.

Brighton’s coach Fabian Horstler praised the deal, confirming that the player has a winning mentality after winning both the league and cup titles with Club Brugge, in addition to his experience playing in various positions on the field, which gives him an advantage to compete for his new position with the team.

De Kuiper began his career with Brugge and made his debut against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League in 2020, and he had a successful loan period with Westerlo, contributing to the team's promotion to the top league, before establishing his place in Brugge's starting lineup.

The player won the league title with Club Brugge in the 2023/2024 season and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, before adding the Belgian Cup title last season, and he has been capped internationally with the Belgium national team since June 2024, playing 10 matches and scoring 3 goals.
