Botafogo Announces the Dismissal of Renato Paiva

The Brazilian club Botafogo announced the dismissal of its coach Renato Paiva, following the team's exit from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Botafogo was eliminated from the tournament in the Round of 16, after losing to Palmeiras by a goal to nil.

The club stated in an official announcement: "Botafogo announces that Renato Paiva is no longer the head coach of the first team, and he was informed of the decision on Sunday evening."

The club thanked the Portuguese coach and his assistants for their efforts over the past months, praising the achievements made under his leadership, including the historic victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup and qualifying for the Round of 16 in both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil.

Botafogo concluded its statement by confirming that John Textor and the football board are currently working on selecting a new coach to lead the team in the upcoming phase.
