Al-Hudood Officially Bids Farewell to the Iraqi Premier League
Wednesday 25-06-2025
The curtain has officially fallen on Al-Hudood's journey in the Iraqi Premier League for the 2024-2025 season, after losing on Wednesday evening to the league champions, Al-Shorta, by a score of 3-1, in the thirty-seventh round, leading the team to be relegated to the first division, concluding a complicated season filled with many troubles and administrative and technical fluctuations.

Despite entering the match with a theoretical last chance to stay, the loss against the Green Lyre ended all calculations for survival, as the team's points froze at 23 in the nineteenth position, officially failing to avoid the specter of relegation before one round remains in the league.

Despite the coach and players' attempts to salvage what could be salvaged in recent weeks, poor results and a decline in overall performance since the middle of the season led to a sharp drop in the team's standings, making it unable to collect enough points.

In the thirty-seventh round match against Al-Shorta, defensive mistakes that plagued Al-Hudood throughout the season recurred, as the team conceded two goals from individual errors in the first half, through Bassam Shakir and Mohammed Dawood, before Saif Karim scored a goal to reduce the deficit at the beginning of the second half, but Lucas Santos returned to seal matters in favor of Al-Shorta with a third goal in the 82nd minute, confirming Al-Hudood's farewell to the Premier League.

Throughout the season, Al-Hudood Club suffered fluctuations in administrative and technical stability, with coaching staffs changing multiple times, while the team could not hold its ground, especially against its direct rivals in the battle for survival. The winter signings also failed to make the required difference.

Despite having some outstanding young players, the absence of experience and increasing psychological pressures weighed heavily on the players as the rounds progressed.

Al-Hudood's relegation to the first division does not mean the end, but it may be a new beginning for rebuilding. The club's management will now be required to reorganize, reviewing all details of the season, in order to return quickly to the Iraqi Premier League, but this return will not be easy given the strong competition in the first division.

The team will need to learn from this harsh lesson to correct its course and regain the identity it was known for previously as a tough competitor in the spotlight league.
